Privacy Policy

Overview

This website is operated by Tyler Gilbert (ABN 64 873 205 590) (“I”, “me”), the practice of Tyler Gilbert, a product engineer in Sydney, Australia. This policy explains what personal information is collected when you visit the site or send an enquiry, and what happens to it.

I handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

What I collect

What you send me. The enquiry form asks for:

• your first and last name and email address;
• optionally, your phone number, company and website;
• a description of your project, the kinds of help you need, a budget range and, optionally, when you want to start;
• confirmation that you have read the collection notice.

If you email me directly, I receive whatever you include in your message.

What is handled automatically. Cloudflare, which hosts this site, processes technical request data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, to deliver the site and keep it secure. The enquiry form’s spam check (Cloudflare Turnstile) processes signals from your browser to tell people from bots. Cloudflare Web Analytics records page views and loading performance in aggregate. None of this is used to identify or profile you.

Please don’t include sensitive information, such as health or financial details, in an enquiry.

How I use it

• To read and reply to your enquiry.
• If we agree to work together, to scope and deliver that work under a separate agreement.
• To keep the site running and secure, and to understand overall traffic and performance.
• To meet legal obligations.

I do not sell personal information, add you to a mailing list, use it for unrelated marketing, or build a profile of you.

How the enquiry form works

When you send the form, your details travel over an encrypted connection to a small Cloudflare service that checks the Turnstile result and passes the message to Resend, an email delivery provider, which delivers it to my inbox. The site does not store submissions in a database.

Cookies and tracking

This site sets no cookies of its own and runs no advertising pixels, behavioural profiling or marketing cookies. Its typefaces are served from this site, so no font provider receives your visit.

Cloudflare Web Analytics measures visits without cookies or cross-site tracking. The home page stores a single flag in your browser’s session storage so the intro animation is shorter on repeat visits; it stays on your device and is cleared when you close the tab.

I use Google Search Console to see how the site appears in Google Search. It adds nothing to this site and receives nothing about you from it.

Service providers

I use a small number of providers, who process information on my behalf under their own privacy policies:

• Cloudflare: hosting, security, the Turnstile spam check and Web Analytics.
• Resend: delivers enquiry emails to my inbox.
• My email provider: holds my mailbox, including enquiries and email replies.

These providers may store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States. I share only what is needed to run the site and respond to you.

Retention

I keep an enquiry only for as long as I need it to respond, then delete it. If an enquiry becomes paid work, I keep only the information needed to deliver the engagement and to meet legal, tax and accounting obligations, and delete it when it is no longer required.

Technical data processed by Cloudflare is kept under Cloudflare’s own retention settings; I do not keep it.

Security

The site is served only over HTTPS, access to enquiries is limited to me, and I use established providers. No transmission over the internet is completely secure, but I take reasonable steps to protect what you send.

Your rights

You can ask me to access, correct or delete the personal information I hold about you, or to stop using it. Email [Contact email to be confirmed] and I will respond within a reasonable time. Where applicable law gives you additional privacy rights, you may exercise those rights by contacting me at the same address.

If you are unhappy with how I have handled your information, please tell me first so I can fix it. You can also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au (opens in a new tab).

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published here with a new “last updated” date.
